For anyone looking for a spot of nightlife, look no further than Kardamena – the island’s hot spot and bursting with lively nightclubs, karaoke bars and English-style pubs. Surrounded by lush greenery, the waters here are a bit chilly, but are also the most crystal clear of all the island’s beaches. Stroll along the waterfront and pop into a taverna or two for some tasty Greek bites and look out at the lovely sea views. Combine your beach day with a visit to the Monastery of Agios Nikolaos which is only a short distance away. For endless sands, Marmari is a sandy haven, 20 kilometres south of Kos Town. Enchanting landscapes, blue seas and a sandy beach can be found there with lots of sunbeds and umbrellas and watersports facilities, as well as waterfront tavernas. There’s more than enough to keep you busy on the island of Kos, but it’s such a good base from which to explore other neighbouring islands, it would be a shame not to do so. Rhodes, Kalymnos and Patmos are close by and you can hop over for a day trip. Or why not stay a little longer and spread your time between the islands?
